By Fabiana McKlmon

In a continued effort to uphold quality standards in the local manufacturing and services sector, the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) has certified six companies so far this year.

The six certified companies comprise three laboratories (two medical and one testing) and three businesses utilizing the “Made in Guyana” certification mark.

Bibi Khatoon, the Communication Officer of GNBS, highlighted the significance of these certifications in ensuring consumers’ confidence in the quality of goods and services they use.

In an exclusive interview, Khatoon emphasized the importance of promoting the GNBS certification programs to provide guarantees to consumers and to bolster the reputation of the national manufacturing and services sector.

She expressed satisfaction with the progress made, indicating the GNBS’s commitment to encouraging more businesses to participate in certification programs.

Khatoon also announced the GNBS’s plans to introduce new certification programs, including the 901 certification program.

This comprehensive program, launched in October last year, aims to provide Medium Small and Micro Enterprises (MSMEs) with quality training to meet international management requirements.

The 901 certification will serve as a vital step for businesses to attain international accreditation, enhancing their competitiveness in the global market.

The GNBS’s ongoing efforts to certify companies underscore its dedication to promoting quality standards and ensuring consumer protection.

By encouraging businesses to participate in certification programs, the GNBS aims to elevate the overall quality of products and services in Guyana, fostering growth and development in the manufacturing and services sector.
