Guyana Defence Force Volleyball Club Secures Victory over Venguy VC

In a display of exceptional ball handling skills, the Guyana Defence Force Volleyball Club triumphed over team Venguy to claim the top spot in the Demerara Volleyball Association’s club league standings.

Under the leadership of captain Michael Adolph, the GDF team delivered a commanding performance, securing victory in a five-set match against Venguy VC.

The first set saw GDF dominate with a score of 25-16, fueled by impressive plays from Osworth Dash and Jahleel Roberts.

Dash contributed 9 points overall, closely followed by Roberts with 8 points.

Omari Joseph and Steffon Norah also made notable contributions to the team’s success.

In the second set, Venguy VC faced a significant challenge, succumbing to a 12-25 defeat against GDF.

Despite showing determination in the third set, led by Luis Nunez with 8 points, Venguy ultimately fell short with a score of 21-25.

Omari Joseph’s stellar performance throughout the match solidified his position at the top of the individual standings, with 45 points.

Trevon Mcrae of Premier Eagles and Corwyn Richards of Castrol Strikers followed closely behind.

With this victory, GDF surged to the top of the league table with two wins and a loss, totaling 8 points.

Their league campaign began with a narrow 3-2 sets loss to Premier Eagles Volleyball Club but gained momentum with subsequent victories over Alphas Volleyball Club and Venguy.

Currently, Castrol Strikers hold the second position on the table, followed by Premier Eagles in third place, with both teams boasting two wins and a loss each.

The league action will continue throughout the week at the National Gymnasium, promising more thrilling encounters for volleyball enthusiasts.
