In an exhilarating showdown at the National Gymnasium, Dominic Vincente and the Kitty Campbellville Ravens emerged victorious as the champions of the inaugural One Guyana Basketball League.
The highly anticipated One Guyana Basketball League, spanning over seven months, culminated in an electrifying final clash between the Eagles and Ravens.
The intensity was palpable from the start, with both teams exhibiting high energy in the first quarter, ending in a deadlock at 15-15.
Utilizing their seasoned experience, the Ravens seized control in the second quarter, securing a seven-point lead with a score of 22-15 at halftime.
Maintaining their dominance, the Ravens displayed stellar defense and precision in the third quarter, outscoring their opponents 19-14 and extending their lead further.
As the Eagles attempted a comeback, challenges mounted with team Captain Travis Belgrave fouling out, compounding their woes.
Although the Eagles rallied in the fourth quarter, it was too late to overturn the Ravens’ lead, with the experienced champions strategically slowing down the game and securing victory with a final period score of 20-19.
The championship game witnessed an enthusiastic turnout of basketball fans, demonstrating unwavering support for their respective teams.
As the final buzzer sounded, the Kitty Campbellville Ravens clinched the title of Inaugural Champions, earning One Million Guyana Dollars in prize money, while the Stabroek Eagles received half that amount as runners-up.
The success of the One Guyana Basketball League was made possible through the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sport, along with G-Boat Guyana.
In a celebration of talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship, the Kitty Campbellville Ravens etched their names in history as the first-ever champions of the One Guyana Basketball League.
