As Guyanese anticipate the festivities of Mashramani, the Education Ministry has stepped into the spotlight with the launch of its own Mash band.
With a legacy of more than a decade of wins, the Ministry of Education is set to make its mark in the medium band category this year.
Under the unique theme “Blazing the trail of knowledge with transformative technology and inclusive education,” the ministry aims to captivate spectators with its innovative approach to celebrating Guyana’s culture and education.
Nicholas Fraser, the head of the Allied Arts unit of the ministry, provided insights into this year’s costume concept.
He revealed plans for an expanded contingent, with over 125 revelers, including a king and queen representing the growth and progress in education.
Additionally, individual male and female participants will reflect the theme’s emphasis on transformative technology and inclusive education.
A float will also accompany the band, adding to the spectacle of the celebration.
The launch event featured captivating performances from talented students and staff of the education ministry, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and artistic talent within the education sector.
Participants like the St. Roses’ Steel Orchestra and student Danielle Holder from Graham’s Hall Primary School brought their energy and skill to the stage, setting the tone for an exciting Mashramani celebration ahead.
With preparations in full swing, the Education Ministry’s Mash band promises to be a highlight of the festivities, blending tradition with innovation and education with entertainment.
