Central Housing and Planning Authority Takes Firm Stand Against Corruption

The Central Housing and Planning Authority (CHPA) is vigorously addressing corruption within its ranks, leading to the termination of an employee following investigations into alleged misconduct.

Minister within the Ministry of Housing and Water, Susan Rodrigues, emphasized the authority’s commitment to rooting out corruption wherever it is identified.

The termination was a result of a thorough process that involved gathering evidence against the employee.

Minister Rodrigues stated that the individual in question was questioned, put on bail, and the file is currently with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The termination of the employee reflects the authority’s decisive action in response to proven cases of corruption.

While addressing the singular case, Minister Rodrigues highlighted the need for concrete evidence to take definitive actions against any corrupt individuals within the authority.

She urged the public to come forward with solid information regarding staff members or individuals soliciting monetary bribes in exchange for land allocations.

The CHPA emphasized its commitment to addressing corruption and implementing additional measures to combat such practices.

This includes an increase in staff and the establishment of a secretariat to assist individuals facing difficulties without resorting to bribery.

The authority clarified that no bribes are required for house lots and encouraged dissatisfied applicants to follow proper channels for appeals.

This initiative reflects the authority’s dedication to maintaining transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct in its operations.
