…Mobilization Works for Wismar Bridge Set to Begin in 2024
Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, announced the successful completion of the bid evaluation process for the construction of the Corentyne River Bridge.
This significant infrastructure project aims to facilitate the seamless movement of goods to Suriname, providing farmers with improved transportation options for their produce.
The proposed Corentyne River Bridge is planned to stretch 1100 meters, featuring 22 spans, each measuring 50 meters in length.
The collaboration between the governments of Guyana and Suriname involves a joint executive decision on modality and financing, with key ministers from foreign affairs, finance, and public works engaged in the deliberations.
Minister Edghill highlighted the importance of the Corentyne River Bridge in fostering regional connectivity and economic development.
The completion of the bid evaluation marks a crucial step forward in realizing this vital infrastructure project.
Additionally, mobilization works for the construction of a four-lane bridge across the Demerara River in Wismar, Linden, are scheduled to commence in 2024.
This bridge, connecting Wismar to Mackenzie, is anticipated to alleviate traffic congestion, especially considering the current single-lane capacity of the existing bridge.
The government’s commitment to enhancing transportation infrastructure reflects its dedication to regional development and improved connectivity.
