World Press Freedom Day 2022

His Excellency Dr Irfaan Ali reaffirmed his belief in the full freedom of the press during his feature address at the opening ceremony of the World Press Freedom Day 2022 National Conference and Symposium at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre. The Head of State spoke extensively today on a number of tenets of the media including fairness, responsibility, objectivity, balance, knowledge and understanding, truthfulness, accuracy, respecting the rule of law and impartiality.

He also underscored his Government’s support for freedom of the press, and pointed out that the Government would ensure that it is protected.

Scores of media representatives, members of the Diplomatic Community and Government officials were also at the opening of the two-day event.
