GEORGETOWN, Guyana – In a significant boost to technical education, the Zara Group of Companies has donated 31 state-of-the-art computers and a fully equipped computer lab to the Government Technical Institute (GTI).

The initiative aims to enhance learning opportunities for students pursuing technical studies.

The donation, led by Zara Group founder Ken Subraj and his family, continues the company’s longstanding support for education in Guyana.

During the official handing-over ceremony on Monday, Subraj encouraged students to take charge of their academic and professional futures, emphasizing that success is achieved through dedication and effort.

Chief Education Officer (Technical) at the Ministry of Education, Dr. Retish Tularam, highlighted the significance of the new facility, noting that it aligns with the Ministry’s goal of providing students with the necessary tools to excel in their fields.

He explained that the lab, equipped with a server system, 31 fully powered computer units, essential software, and strong connectivity, can serve as a model for training individuals across the regions.

This donation represents a major step in strengthening the educational infrastructure at GTI and contributes positively to the future of technical education in Guyana.
