Youth Basketball Guyana Announces Rescheduled Titan Bowl 13 and Tertiary Knockout Tournaments

December 2, 2024

Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) has announced that the much-awaited Titan Bowl 13 and Tertiary Knockout tournaments have been rescheduled to start on Friday, December 13.

The games will now conclude on Monday, December 16.

This adjustment was made following a request from the National Sports Commission to allow the One Guyana Futsal tournament to finish before the basketball tournaments begin.

Chris Bowman, President of YBG, expressed excitement for the year-end tournaments, calling them an important part of evaluating the year’s progress in youth and school basketball development.

He said, “YBG is always excited about our year-end tournaments because it’s really an evaluation for us of completing another great year of youth and school basketball development.”

Bowman highlighted that these tournaments provide an opportunity to wrap up the year on a positive note and give insight into the upcoming year’s programming.

He also explained that the rescheduling was a practical decision to avoid the inconvenience of setting up and dismantling the court twice within a short period, which would have been resource-intensive.

Bowman added, “We think that it is going to be a great tournament nevertheless. As you know, YBG programs all of our tournaments for students from across the country, so it’s a wide spread of teams who are traveling and making the effort to come here for the tournament. We expect a great tournament, nevertheless. Our hope is that this kind of random act is not a pattern.”

The Titan Bowl 13 and Tertiary Knockout tournaments are expected to be a great showcase of youth basketball talent across Guyana.
