Young Gunners and Speightland Crowned Champions in One Guyana Beach Football Tournament

Young Gunners and Speightland emerged triumphant in this year’s One Guyana Beach Football Tournament, showcasing their skills in front of an enthusiastic crowd over the weekend.

Young Gunners secured the championship with a 1-0 victory against Hi Flyers, earning themselves a prize of one million dollars.

Their skillful defense proved to be decisive in the competitive game, with Ryan Arthur scoring the lone goal to seal the win.

In the female finals, Speightland defended their title by defeating Hururu 2-1.

Nikita Wayne and Shenessa Cornelins each contributed a goal for Speightland, while Nickesha Persaud scored for Hururu.

Speightland received a prize of 400,000 dollars, while Hururu settled for 200,000 dollars.

The tournament also saw MS Ballers claiming third place with a walkover against Hururu, earning them 200,000 dollars.

In the male category, Aroima secured the third-place prize of 100,000 dollars after defeating Rockstone 4-1.

Initiated by President Dr. Irfaan Ali in May 2023, the One Guyana Beach Football Tournament aims to promote community sports participation.

This year’s event marks the third edition of the tournament, demonstrating its growing popularity and impact on local sports development.
