Young entrepreneurs credit President Ali

-for launching poultry investment initiative

A chance meeting with President Dr. Irfan Ali has sparked a major agricultural venture for a group of young Guyanese entrepreneurs who are now building a large scale poultry operation through the agri invest initiative. The group is creating jobs and expanding Guyana’s poultry sector with ambitions of becoming a leading regional producer.

The group operating under the Agri-Invest initiative said the president’s vision and support helped turn a simple conversation into a thriving agricultural venture that is creating jobs, generating income and building long term wealth.

One of the entrepreneurs recalled that the idea was born after the president stopped to speak with them while they were exercising along the Georgetown seawall and later invited them to breakfast to discuss the opportunities.

“He stopped us, asked us what we’re doing. So he said, hey, I’m going to invite you guys to breakfast. And out of that came this initiative with young entrepreneurs,” he said.

The tunnel house currently has the capacity to house approximately 43,000 broiler chickens with production taking place on a six week cycle. The farm, located at Moira Point, has already completed two production cycles and is preparing to begin a third.

According to the group, the initiative is designed not only to strengthen Guyanese poultry industry, but also to create generational wealth for the young investors and their families.

Looking ahead, the entrepreneurs say they have ambitious plans to expand the operation into one of the region’s premier poultry companies, comparing their long term vision to international industry giants. They also expressed gratitude to President Ali for believing in their potential, saying his investment in young people has given them an opportunity to build a lasting legacy while contributing to Guyana’s growing agricultural sector.
