{"id":32144,"date":"2026-09-29T18:54:17","date_gmt":"2026-09-29T22:54:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=32144"},"modified":"2026-09-29T18:54:17","modified_gmt":"2026-09-29T22:54:17","slug":"new-amsterdam-secondary-gets-new-autocad-lab","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/new-amsterdam-secondary-gets-new-autocad-lab\/","title":{"rendered":"New Amsterdam Secondary gets new AutoCAD lab"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-by Kyler Rollins<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ministry of Education&nbsp;has&nbsp;commissioned a new AutoCAD laboratory&nbsp;at the New Amsterdam Secondary School.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The facility is&nbsp;designed to enhance the students\u2019 technical skills and provides a modern space for digital design, innovation and practical learning.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The commissioning forms part of the Ministry\u2019s continued expansion of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)&nbsp;in schools, preparing students for roles within Guyana\u2019s rapid transformation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_2698-1024x682.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-32151\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_2698-1024x682.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_2698-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_2698-768x511.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_2698.jpeg 1080w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deputy Chief Education Officer \u2013 Technical Dr. Ritesh Tularam says TVET must move beyond traditional perception, highlighting that technical and vocational education is a pathway to innovation, skills development and meaningful career opportunities. &nbsp;<br>\u201c<strong>We\u2019re moving to a modern TVET. It\u2019s all about innovation, It\u2019s about&nbsp;inclusion of&nbsp;technologies, it\u2019s about creating entrepreneurship opportunities. It\u2019s about ensuring we\u2019re engaging our students in meaningful production&nbsp;and ultimately&nbsp;transform&nbsp;it into lifelong learning<\/strong>,\u201d he said. <br>Principal of&nbsp;New Amsterdam Secondary,&nbsp;Wahid Omar welcomed the initiative,&nbsp;noting that the new facility will help to equip students with the necessary skill to contribute to national development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<strong>From the classroom to the community, from the drawing board to the digital screen, from ideas to innovation, from education to nation building. This is the&nbsp;promise of this laboratory.
