{"id":32114,"date":"2026-09-28T18:24:06","date_gmt":"2026-09-28T22:24:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=32114"},"modified":"2026-09-28T18:24:06","modified_gmt":"2026-09-28T22:24:06","slug":"technology-to-strengthen-traffic-enforcement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/technology-to-strengthen-traffic-enforcement\/","title":{"rendered":"Technology to\u00a0strengthen\u00a0traffic\u00a0enforcement"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8211;&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>Traffic Chief<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-by David Clarke<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Motorists are being warned against offering bribes to traffic ranks, as the Guyana Police Force moves toward greater use of technology in road enforcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Traffic Chief Senior Superintendent Mahendra Singh says the increased use of speed cameras is expected to reduce opportunities for subjective enforcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also said that members of the public should report any officer who demands\u00a0or solicits a bribe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere is a case that we have asked for it, report it. There is the commission of police&#8217;s office, he has stated it publicly. Mine, the regional commander, there&#8217;s a special organized crime unit, there&#8217;s our deputy commissioner of law enforcement, go and report it,\u201d he said. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He says motorists can also reduce opportunities for corruption by ensuring their vehicles meet the required standards and that they are properly licensed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cRestrict the opportunity to have to pay us anything to do any favours to you. Ensure your tint is at the level required, ensure there are no blue or coloured lights, ensure that the vehicle tyres are okay, ensure that every possible thing, \u00a0and that you are licensed to drive.
