Ali says partnerships are key for development"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-In address to Clinton Foundation even<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President Irfaan Ali says international partnerships are helping Guyana expand its capacity in key areas including healthcare, energy, technology and food security. Ali made the point while addressing the Clinton Foundation Initiative, where he outlined how Guyana is using partnerships to access expertise, technology and financing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He says Guyana cannot independently finance every advanced technology or research programme, making partnerships an important part of its development strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;<strong>We do not have the enormous research budget of the large economies. We cannot independently finance every advanced laboratory, every medical technology, every innovation, or every agricultural research program. Yet importantly, we can be the perfect sample size or pilot size for many research. But we do have something equally important. We have political will, human resources, and most importantly, the ability to bring the right people around the same table<\/strong>,&#8221; <\/em>he added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The President pointed to healthcare, where Guyana has partnered with Mount Sinai and HESC to strengthen the public health system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also highlighted the use of telemedicine and robotic surgery, including a cardiac procedure conducted remotely between Guyana and India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;<strong>Important in our transition is also energy security.<\/strong> <strong>We&#8217;re investing and partnering heavily with countries all across the world. Our partnership on energy is diversified. We have inter-energy here. We&#8217;re partnering with energy providers from the Middle East, from the U.S. Even the financing of these energy projects is from a diverse pool of stakeholders, U.S. EXIM also included in that<\/strong>,&#8221;<\/em> the president said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ali says Guyana is also using partnerships to advance food security, biodiversity and digital services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He says the approach gives Guyana access to technology, expertise and financing that would otherwise be difficult for a small state to secure on its own.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>-In address to Clinton Foundation even President Irfaan Ali says international partnerships are helping Guyana expand its capacity in key areas including healthcare, energy, technology and food security.
