A forensic analysis presented in the ongoing 2020 Elections Fraud Trial has highlighted major differences between certified Statements of Poll and declarations made for Region Four.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prosecution says the analysis shows the PPP\/C held an approximately 15,000-vote lead based on the certified Statements of Poll (SOPs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Forensic accounting auditor Terrence Jaskaran returned to the witness stand today, detailing his analysis of certified Statements of Poll against official declarations from the March 2020 elections.<\/p>\n\n\n

Jaskaran, who was accepted by Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty as an expert in forensic analysis, accounting and auditing, told the court that while some regions showed no differences, the most significant variations were found in Region Four.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His analysis included two Region Four declarations- dated March 5 and March 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jaskaran testified that his tabulation of the certified Statements of Poll produced 116,215 votes for APNU\/AFC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the March 13 declaration, however, APNU\/AFC was allocated 136,057 votes- 19,842 more than the total Jaskaran calculated from the certified SOPs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Special Prosecutor Latchmie Rahamat, speaking outside the courtroom, said the prosecution\u2019s interpretation of Jaskaran\u2019s analysis is that the certified SOP figures would have left the PPP\/C with an approximately 15,000-vote lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She argued that the declarations effectively altered that position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“His evidence is clear that his declarations on the 5th of March changed the results of the March 2 elections, giving the APNU\/AFC the victory, whereas the declaration on March 13 also had a similar effect in that it equalized the margin of 15,000 votes that were more in favour of the PPP\/C on the certified SOPs and then gave more votes beyond the 15,000 in excess of 20,000<\/strong>,” she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rahamat said the prosecution believes Jaskaran\u2019s analysis also supports earlier testimony by Sonia Parag, Sasenarine Singh and Lennox Shuman alleging that figures being called during the tabulation did not correspond with copies of Statements of Poll held by political parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“And they were saying that the GECOM officials were not calling votes from the SOPs, they were calling from a spreadsheet, and the numbers being called from the spreadsheet were incorrect. It did not match copies of the SOPs that the smaller parties had and the PPP\/C<\/strong>,” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rahamat said the prosecution will use the analysis alongside testimony already presented as it seeks to establish its case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trial continues tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
