{"id":31985,"date":"2026-09-19T17:15:15","date_gmt":"2026-09-19T21:15:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=31985"},"modified":"2026-09-19T17:15:15","modified_gmt":"2026-09-19T21:15:15","slug":"utility-pole-to-remain-until-new-east-coast-transmission-bypass-is-completed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/utility-pole-to-remain-until-new-east-coast-transmission-bypass-is-completed\/","title":{"rendered":"Utility pole to remain until new East Coast Transmission Bypass is completed"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation Deodat Indar inspected the Plaisance Railway Embankment Road Project on Friday to address community concerns about an active utility pole standing directly in the construction zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He explained that the utility line will be safely relocated once a new bypass transmission line through the East Coast backlands is completed, with the target completion date set for late November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bMinister Indar explained that immediately removing the pole is not viable, as it carries a critical 69kV transmission line supplying power to the East Coast of Demerara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He says decommissioning the line without an alternative route in place would trigger widespread blackouts across the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;<strong>Now if you look at that work that&#8217;s going on there, they&#8217;re doing the compaction and the pole is in the middle still. Now we can move this pole but it will require significant outages which we don&#8217;t want to do. Designed to support both 69kV and 230kV lines, the project has experienced delays due to challenging weather conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;<strong>Now it&#8217;s taking a little time simply because they have wetlands and marshlands and swamp at the back there. So, the contractors have to go through it.<\/strong> <strong>They got to prepare the land and it take longer when it was raining a few months back. Now it&#8217;s sunny the project is progressing.
