{"id":31929,"date":"2026-09-15T19:09:46","date_gmt":"2026-09-15T23:09:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=31929"},"modified":"2026-09-15T19:13:28","modified_gmt":"2026-09-15T23:13:28","slug":"moh-targeting-infectious-disease-elimination","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/moh-targeting-infectious-disease-elimination\/","title":{"rendered":"MOH targeting infectious disease elimination"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-And health system upgrades \u2013 Dr. Anthony<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-by Shamiah Grant<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guyana is ramping up efforts to eradicate key infectious diseases while simultaneously boosting lab capabilities, staff training, and clinical care quality across the country\u2019s healthcare system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Health Minister Dr. Frank Anthony says targeted efforts against leprosy, malaria, and hepatitis C are also drastically reducing disease burdens nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The country is presently undergoing final assessments for lymphatic filariasis, which health officials expect will soon result in official disease-free certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Minister Anthony is optimistic that the country will be certified as having eliminated the disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, he says efforts are also ongoing to address leprosy, malaria and hepatitis C.
