{"id":31924,"date":"2026-09-15T18:56:58","date_gmt":"2026-09-15T22:56:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=31924"},"modified":"2026-09-15T18:56:58","modified_gmt":"2026-09-15T22:56:58","slug":"kildonan-headteacher-dies-after-rose-hall-accident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/kildonan-headteacher-dies-after-rose-hall-accident\/","title":{"rendered":"Kildonan headteacher dies after Rose Hall accident"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-by Kyler Rollins<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A routine stop after work ended in tragedy for a Region Six headteacher, who was struck by a motorcar in Rose Hall Town and later died in hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tonight, her family is demanding justice as the education community mourns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fifty-one-year-old Sonia Williams, Headteacher of Kildonan Primary School, had finished another day at work and stopped at Assuria Insurance Company in Rose Hall Town to conduct business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But shortly after leaving, tragedy struck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police say Williams was struck by motorcar PJJ 7624 at approximately 15 hours 21 Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The driver allegedly fled the scene, leaving the educator critically injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Williams was rushed to the Port Mourant Public Hospital and later transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Her son-in-law, Noah Sills, says the family is devastated by the sudden loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The family is very distraught by her untimely passing. This is not something we foresaw ever happening and so we are distraught at this time. It\u2019s affecting each and every one of us deeply. This is not something we expected,&#8221; he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Williams dedicated more than 30 years to education, serving at several primary schools across Region Six. Her family remembers her as loving, forgiving and kind. She had also recently earned a master\u2019s degree in education through the Guyana Online Academy of Learning. Now, as they prepare to say goodbye, the family is calling for justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We\u2019re honestly hoping for justice for our mother-in -law and mother. We just hoping for justice.
