{"id":31877,"date":"2026-09-11T18:29:51","date_gmt":"2026-09-11T22:29:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=31877"},"modified":"2026-09-11T18:29:51","modified_gmt":"2026-09-11T22:29:51","slug":"19-region-six-schools-receive-water-purification-systems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/19-region-six-schools-receive-water-purification-systems\/","title":{"rendered":"19 Region Six schools receive\u00a0water purification systems"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-by Kyler Rollins <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More than 9,000 students and teachers across Region Six now have access to purified drinking water, following the installation of systems at 19 secondary schools and TVET institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The systems were installed under Project FLOW, aimed at improving access to safe drinking water while reducing reliance on plastic bottles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The initiative, implemented through Recover Guyana, the Greater Guyana Initiative and the Ministry of Education, was commissioned at the New Amsterdam Multilateral School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Education Minister Sonia Parag says the project is particularly timely as Guyana experiences hotter conditions associated with El Ni\u00f1o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She says access to chilled, purified water will help keep students hydrated while reducing spending on bottled water and plastic waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<strong>In an environment that is constantly changing because of climate change and the heat that we are facing right now heading into El Nino, we\u2019re having cold water too. We\u2019re having not just clean water but cold water. Because&nbsp;as we know, natural resources are&nbsp;finite&nbsp;but they are wonderful, they\u2019re a gift.
