{"id":31863,"date":"2026-09-10T17:59:53","date_gmt":"2026-09-10T21:59:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=31863"},"modified":"2026-09-10T17:59:53","modified_gmt":"2026-09-10T21:59:53","slug":"regent-household-fire-leaves-32-workers-without-workplace-owner-assures-jobs-secure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/regent-household-fire-leaves-32-workers-without-workplace-owner-assures-jobs-secure\/","title":{"rendered":"Regent Household\u00a0fire\u00a0leaves 32\u00a0workers\u00a0without\u00a0workplace\u00a0\u2013\u00a0owner\u00a0assures jobs secure"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-by Nakasia Logan <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wednesday\u2019s&nbsp;fire,&nbsp;which&nbsp;destroyed&nbsp;Regent Household Electronics&nbsp;has&nbsp;left thirty-two employees&nbsp;without a workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But&nbsp;Proprietor&nbsp;Shaeed Hamid says the&nbsp;situation is only&nbsp;temporary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He says the fire has left him devastated, but he is figuring out how to pick up the pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also stated that&nbsp;32&nbsp;staff members have been affected by the fire; however, their jobs remain secure once things return to normal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The employees came out in their numbers this morning to lend their support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Guyana Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene shortly before&nbsp;2 PM&nbsp;yesterday,<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>with firefighters arriving within minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deputy Fire Chief&nbsp;Dwayne Scotland&nbsp;told NCN News that crews quickly surrounded the building and mounted a coordinated operation to contain the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring structures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regent Household Electronics was destroyed by fire in October 2009,&nbsp;17 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An&nbsp;investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-post-featured-image\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"960\" src=\"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_2318.jpeg\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail size-post-thumbnail wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" style=\"object-fit:cover;\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_2318.jpeg 960w, https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_2318-150x150.jpeg 150w, https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_2318-300x300.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/IMG_2318-768x768.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/figure>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>-by Nakasia Logan Wednesday\u2019s&nbsp;fire,&nbsp;which&nbsp;destroyed&nbsp;Regent Household Electronics&nbsp;has&nbsp;left thirty-two employees&nbsp;without a workplace.
