class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-by Nakasia Logan<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Head of the Guyana Police Force\u2019s Special Branch, Senior Superintendent Prem Narine has testified that he considers Azruddin Mohamed a threat to national security, as extradition proceedings against him and his father, Nazar Mohamed, were adjourned until Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The scheduling conflict arose from a matter involving social media personality Mikhail Rodrigues, popularly known as the \u201cGuyanese Critic,\u201d stemming from an earlier defamation case involving the Mohameds.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lead prosecution counsel, King\u2019s Counsel Terrence Williams, told the court that the Mohameds are expected to appear before Justice Niles for the entire day on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<strong><em>The cross examination of the arresting officer continued and it was not concluded because a point\u00a0of law was raised which cause submissions to be required from both sides., These submission were sent in although the defence asked to add a note to their submissions they also said their client has a matter in another court which cause us not to be able to sit tomorrow,\u201d he said.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>Meanwhile, cross-examination of Senior Police Superintendent Prem Narine continued in the extradition hearing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Narine, Head of the Guyana Police Force\u2019s Special Branch, firmly rejected defence suggestions of political interference in the arrests of the Mohameds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also denied receiving instructions to target the men ahead of Parliament\u2019s sitting in November 2025.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Narine testified that the arrest warrants gave him authority to execute the arrests and said that, based on information available to him, he considers Azruddin Mohamed a threat to national security.\u00a0<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The court is also considering legal submissions arising from issues raised during the hearing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The prosecution has submitted its arguments, while the defence was given until 16:00 hours on September 8 to respond.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The extradition proceedings are set to resume at 09:00 hours on September 10 and are expected to continue until noon.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Mohameds are wanted for extradition to the United States, where they face allegations including money laundering, wire and mail fraud, and customs-related offences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
