{"id":31659,"date":"2026-08-31T19:59:21","date_gmt":"2026-08-31T23:59:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=31659"},"modified":"2026-08-31T20:09:54","modified_gmt":"2026-09-01T00:09:54","slug":"berbice-students-return-to-class","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/berbice-students-return-to-class\/","title":{"rendered":"Berbice students return to class"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>-W<\/strong><strong>ith big goals for new school year<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-by Kyler Rollins<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Berbice, the new academic year is beginning with more than new books and&nbsp;classrooms,&nbsp;students&nbsp;are already setting targets for themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At different stages of their education, their priorities may vary, but the message is much the same: this is a year to make progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For Grade Five student Lanessa Fortune, that starts with putting away the devices and dedicating more time to schoolwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c&nbsp;I plan&nbsp;to work this term by not being on my iPad or my device too much so I can get a better grade,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m doing a lot of work and just being myself. I\u2019m being cool and I\u2019m not taking it too hard. I\u2019m happy that I can see back my friends,\u201d Adeena Ram shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, Depeeka Ramcharran expressed excitement about what the new school year brings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m going into the class of Grade 7 and I\u2019m feeling great about it,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Parents are backing those ambitions, with many saying they expect students to remain disciplined and make the most of the opportunities before them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deywattie Balkarran told NCN, \u201cI feel really happy. I expect them to do good this term. I\u2019ve been sending them to lessons. I will try for them to do more better.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another parent, Shevon Rollins, said, \u201c&nbsp;I expect my&nbsp;child to do good. The sky is your limit. Just go for your dreams. You work it, you do, you dream it and you bring it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regional officials also visited schools during the day to assess the reopening and ensure the new term got off to a smooth start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For these students, however, the first day is already behind them.
