class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-by Kimberly Giddings<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fresh off the recently held Mainstay Regatta, the community is in high praise of the&nbsp;Government investments,&nbsp;including&nbsp;the Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS)&nbsp;funds,&nbsp;that&nbsp;are helping to drive tourism and agriculture in the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking during a visit by President Dr. Irfaan Ali,\u00a0Toshao Marsha Williams explained that the village\u2019s first two cabins were developed through LCDS investments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This investment has empowered&nbsp;the community&nbsp;to&nbsp;now offer its own accommodation for visitors,&nbsp;beyond the well-known Lake Mainstay Resort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201d<strong>We the people of mainstay realize that we can be able to boost more and so we are investing using the governments commitment support and we are putting our village out there<\/strong>,\u201d she said. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She said the investment in the cabins has created jobs for residents, while local caterers and transportation providers are also benefiting from increased visitor activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Williams added that improvements in infrastructure are further enhancing the village and making it more accessible to visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<strong>And now we\u2019re having it more even better with the president commitment with completing our roads and\u00a0I must tell you that I believe we will have to get more buildings because we\u2019ll have more people in mainstay<\/strong>,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Williams added that the investments are&nbsp;also&nbsp;strengthening the village\u2019s agricultural sectors, while creating new opportunities and supporting a more sustainable future for residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;Government has continued to channel investments under the Low Carbon Development Strategy into&nbsp;Amerindian&nbsp;communities across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Communities come up with their own village improvement plans, supporting initiatives aimed at improving&nbsp;their&nbsp;livelihoods, strengthening local economies and promoting sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
