{"id":31449,"date":"2026-08-18T18:34:29","date_gmt":"2026-08-18T22:34:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=31449"},"modified":"2026-08-18T18:34:29","modified_gmt":"2026-08-18T22:34:29","slug":"six-regional-hospitals-record-more-than-145000-outpatient-visits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/six-regional-hospitals-record-more-than-145000-outpatient-visits\/","title":{"rendered":"Six regional hospitals record more than 145,000 outpatient visits"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More than 145,000 outpatient visits have been recorded at Guyana\u2019s six new regional hospitals since the facilities were commissioned. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The figures were provided by President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali during a media engagement, where he outlined the performance of the hospitals at Diamond, Enmore, Lima, Number 75, Bath, and De Kinderen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Collectively, the six facilities have recorded more than 18,500 inpatient admissions and approximately 3,700 surgeries. More than one million laboratory tests have also been conducted.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-08-18-at-1.18.27-PM-1024x682.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-31450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-08-18-at-1.18.27-PM-1024x682.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-08-18-at-1.18.27-PM-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-08-18-at-1.18.27-PM-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-08-18-at-1.18.27-PM.jpeg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Diagnostic services have included approximately 82,200 X-rays, 37,700 ultrasounds and 13,680 CT scans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The hospitals have also recorded more than 101,000 specialist clinic attendances, covering services such as surgery, gynaecology, dentistry, ophthalmology and ENT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Approximately 2,400 babies have been delivered, while nearly 280,000 prescriptions have been filled at the six facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President Ali said the figures demonstrate the scale of healthcare services now being delivered in the regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cThese investments have revolutionised health care in our country. If you speak to people who utilise these services, predominantly, overwhelmingly, they will tell you all of the positive stories,\u201d <\/em><\/strong>he said. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While he acknowledged that challenges remain within the healthcare system, the president explained that these do not reflect the overall performance of the new facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>&#8220;Overwhelmingly, the performance of these\u00a0hospitals, the medical teams, the lab teams and nurses has been exceptional,&#8221; <\/strong><\/em>he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The head of state also pointed to waiting times as another indicator of the hospitals\u2019 performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President Ali said the average waiting time is approximately 10 minutes for emergency care and 30 minutes for outpatient services across the six facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More than 145,000 outpatient visits have been recorded at Guyana\u2019s six new regional hospitals since the facilities were commissioned.
