Since opening its doors in 2025, the facility has treated more than 60,000 patients\u00a0and performed over 300 surgeries, providing residents with medical services and treatments\u00a0that were previously unavailable in Region 5.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking exclusively with NCN News, Medical Superintendent Dr. Daniel Robertson said\u00a0that of the more than 60,000 patients treated during the hospital&#8217;s first year,\u00a0approximately 2,000 were admitted for further care.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He noted that more than 4,000 ultrasounds and 15,000 x-rays were performed,\u00a0along with approximately 1,000 CT scans, a service that was previously unavailable in Region 5.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Robertson said residents have been making full use of the expanded services,\u00a0which have helped to ease the burden on patients who previously had to travel outside the region\u00a0to access specialized diagnostic and medical care. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Being a Level 4 facility, which we now have new services and equipment such as the CT scans,\u00a0which was again previously not available in Region 5,\u00a0where the residents would have to travel to either New Amsterdam or to Georgetown,\u00a0it has reduced greatly the financial burden that these families would face,\u00a0along with the consumption of time that they would need to travel to these other districts\u00a0to access this level of care,&#8221; he explained. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Turning his attention to surgeries, Dr. Robertson said that the hospital performed\u00a0more than 300 procedures of various types, including caesarean sections,\u00a0gallstone and bladder removal, nephrectomies and Whipple procedures.\u00a0He described the achievement as a significant milestone for the region&#8217;s health sector,\u00a0noting that these are among the services newly introduced at the facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I feel that it&#8217;s a great accomplishment through the efforts of a multidisciplinary approach\u00a0because everyone played a part in getting the surgeries done,\u00a0and I can say that with the support of the Ministry of Health and the RDC, it has been wonderful,&#8221; he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the hospital appears to expand its services over the next year,\u00a0plans are in the pipelines to introduce dialysis and other key medical services\u00a0that were previously unavailable in Region 5.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>-by Kyler Rollins The Bath Regional Hospital has marked one year since it was commissioned\u00a0alongside five other new regional hospitals across the country.
