She commended them for their dedication, noting that the Peace Corps has fielded over 1,100 volunteers to Guyana since the agency\u2019s creation by President John F. Kennedy in 1961.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;<strong>Peace Corps volunteers have co-taught more than 3,000 science lessons alongside 168 teachers across the country those teachers are now more confident, better equipped and more inspired to keep teaching using those best practices. They have helped established libraries in schools and trained more than 200 teachers and students in library management<\/strong>,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, Peace Corps Country Director Christie Scott reaffirmed the organization\u2019s commitment to community-led development across Guyana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peace Corp volunteer Grace Brigham shared a message of encouragement, noting that her volunteer work has yielded positive outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;<strong>And all of us are here because we have made a conscious decision to every day since stepping foot in<\/strong> <strong>Guyana to embrace the whole experience both the beautiful moments and in challenging ones with the intention of making a positive impact on individuals, schools and communities around us<\/strong>,&#8221;  Brigham said. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>-will work in communities across Guyana -Shamiah Grant Following ten weeks of training, 28 Peace Corps and Response volunteers have been sworn into two-years of service across Guyana.
