{"id":31199,"date":"2026-07-31T21:05:00","date_gmt":"2026-08-01T01:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=31199"},"modified":"2026-07-31T21:05:00","modified_gmt":"2026-08-01T01:05:00","slug":"statement-of-his-excellency-dr-mohamed-irfaan-ali-president-of-the-co-operative-republic-of-guyana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/statement-of-his-excellency-dr-mohamed-irfaan-ali-president-of-the-co-operative-republic-of-guyana\/","title":{"rendered":"Statement of His Excellency Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Safety and Compliance Audit Team<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of government\u2019s continuing response measures to strengthen maritime safety and prevent future tragedies, I have established a Safety and Compliance Audit Team to undertake a comprehensive review of the safety and compliance standards governing marine vessels operating in Guyana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Team will comprise Dr Ivor English, former Director-General of the Maritime Administration Department (MARAD); Mr Volton Skeete, former Harbour Master of Guyana; and Captain Joseph Lewis, Marine Officer and Surveyor of Ships.
