{"id":30857,"date":"2026-07-13T19:08:12","date_gmt":"2026-07-13T23:08:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=30857"},"modified":"2026-07-13T19:08:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-13T23:08:12","slug":"elderly-man-killed-in-west-berbice-collision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/elderly-man-killed-in-west-berbice-collision\/","title":{"rendered":"Elderly man killed in West Berbice collision"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-by Kyler Rollins<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A 77-year-old liquor shop operator on an electric bike was struck down and killed along the Cotton Tree public road, leaving the community of Rosignol, Region Five, shaken and in mourning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The deceased has been identified as Kundal Persaud, a 77-year-old licensed liquor shop operator of Lot 51 Bacchus Street, Rosignol, West Bank Berbice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Persaud was reportedly on his way home from a wedding in the Cotton Tree area when he met his demise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police say Persaud was travelling east along the southern footpath on his e-bike when motor car PLL 4307, driven by 25-year-old Inzimaan Isahak, a Ranger of Canefield, East Canje, who was proceeding in the opposite direction, allegedly lost control and collided with him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The impact flung the elderly man onto the roadway, leaving him with multiple injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Public-spirited citizens, along with police officers, rushed Persaud to the Bath Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There, his son Arnold Persaud was able to identify his father and described the fatal injuries he sustained in the crash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;<strong>This man foot<\/strong> <strong>bus open worst then when you knock one goat. Big bus! A next foot bruk and a shake plus the man head swell a back. The man hand break. You can see natural and the man face twist<\/strong>,&#8221; Persaud recalled. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Arnold said his father served the community as a rural constable for more than 10 years and described him as a well-liked and respected member of the village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The family is now calling for a thorough investigation into the fatal accident and hopes that justice will be served.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;<strong>He have to<\/strong> <strong>go to the prison. That is the justice for me.
