The Ministry of Health today commissioned the upgraded Charlestown Health Centre,\u00a0formerly known as the No. 1 Dispensary,\u00a0as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen primary health care across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This facility will now provide a range of services for residents of Charlestown and surrounding areas.\u00a0These include Maternal and Child Health,\u00a0Men’s and Adolescent Health,\u00a0Tobacco Cessation Support,\u00a0ECGs, Ultrasound,\u00a0Dental Care and several other essential medical services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony said, “As the Government of Guyana,\u00a0we are going to ensure that people get good health service.\u00a0That’s why we’ve been upgrading all of these facilities across this country.\u00a0And today, we basically rebuilt this entire facility\u00a0to make sure that it’s a modern health care facility.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

The facility also features dedicated spaces for women’s health services,\u00a0including HPV screening and pap smear testing.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking ahead, the Minister announced another $190 million investment\u00a0to upgrade the Dorothy Bailey Health Centre.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“One of the bigger facilities that you have in Georgetown\u00a0is Dorothy Bailey.\u00a0And very soon,\u00a0the Ministry of Health will be making\u00a0a $190 million Guyana investment\u00a0in that facility,”<\/strong> he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Patients were also encouraged to use\u00a0the Ministry of Health’s Cortex mobile application\u00a0to report any medicine shortages\u00a0and provide feedback on the services\u00a0they receive at the facility.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
