Over 400 residents of Region 6 are now one step closer to homeownership, after they received their certificates of title on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The distribution was spearheaded by the Ministry of Housing, through the Central Housing and Planning Authority, at the Classic Hotel parking lot in Corriverton. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The distribution exercise saw 407 residents receiving their land titles for house lots that were allocated at Block 2\/No. 75 Spring Gardens and Blocks 3 and 4 of No. 76\/Plantation Harriet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The certificates provide legal ownership and enable recipients to access financing from lending institutions to begin constructing their homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several beneficiaries who spoke with NCN News expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting that the documents bring them one step closer to achieving homeownership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kelly Nandcoo said, “I\u2019m relieved because it subdue me from paying rent. I can go ahead now and start building. Even of its something small it\u2019s mine and my kids.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another resident, Mohanram, Ragpaul, expressed, “Thank the government and staff and everybody who really put this for we\u2026Its good because I ain\u2019t spend too long to get it.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Somwattie Bahadur told NCN news: “Me feel so pleased, so nice, so contented that you know ever first time me put in for something that me get through and everything moving so quiet and nice.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Minister of Housing Collin Croal, lauded the role played by the Deeds and Commercial Registries in completing the process within three months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He made it clear that the document provides residents with the empowerment they need to access finance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Title for you means you have security of tenure, like with the agreement of sale you could also use this to take to the bank for additional financing not only on mortgage for building your home but it could also be used as collateral,”<\/strong> he said. <\/p>\n\n\n
