Ali <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-by NaAsia Bristol<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Guyana moves closer to the launch of its development bank,\u00a0President Dr. Irfaan Ali is seeking to clear up misconceptions about the initiative.\u00a0While some Guyanese believe the bank is simply about accessing interest-free and collateral-free loans,\u00a0the head of state says the institution is designed to do much more creating long-term prosperity,\u00a0supporting entrepreneurship, and helping families build generational wealth.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>&#8220;The Guyana Development Bank is about creating strategies at the individual and small business level\u00a0that allows Guyanese to win, prosper, and succeed,&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> the president underscored. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The president emphasised that success through the development bank will require dedication,\u00a0resilience, and a commitment to building sustainable businesses\u00a0rather than seeking quick profits.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>&#8220;We have to build a culture of hard work, build a culture of sacrifice, build a culture of patience.That is what is going to make us successful individually, at the community level, and of course, at the national level,&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President Ali also outlined what he calls the Guyana model for the development bank,\u00a0a structure built around mentorship, technical support, and continuous guidance\u00a0for borrowers from the earliest stages of their business journey.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>&#8220;It allows success.It allows resilience. It allows sustainability.\u00a0It allows scaling up of opportunity.It allows building of cluster.\u00a0It allows all of government to be integrated.\u00a0It is supported by mentorship, hand-holding, support mechanism,&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> he said.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bank&#8217;s structure will feature regional credit officers, facilitators, mentors, and sector specialists\u00a0who will help entrepreneurs develop ideas, strengthen business skills,\u00a0and eventually transition into larger commercial opportunities.\u00a0The Guyana Development Bank is expected to begin operations\u00a0once necessary legal and administrative frameworks are fully in place.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>-Pres.
