{"id":30363,"date":"2026-06-10T20:20:21","date_gmt":"2026-06-11T00:20:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=30363"},"modified":"2026-06-10T20:20:21","modified_gmt":"2026-06-11T00:20:21","slug":"logging-truck-drivers-urged-to-prioritise-road-safety","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/logging-truck-drivers-urged-to-prioritise-road-safety\/","title":{"rendered":"Logging truck drivers urged to prioritise road safety"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-by Nakasia Logan <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As economic activity continues to expand in Guyana&#8217;s hinterland regions,\u00a0traffic law enforcement officials are ensuring\u00a0that focus is placed on road safety among operators of heavy-duty vehicles.\u00a0The Guyana Police Force is encouraging drivers to adopt measures\u00a0that can help prevent accidents and improve safety\u00a0along the country&#8217;s highways and interior roadways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Drivers of logging and lumber trucks operating through Linden\u00a0are being urged to comply with road safety measures\u00a0to protect themselves and other road users.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Second-in-command of Traffic Region 10, Inspector Albert Anderson,\u00a0said Linden&#8217;s position as the gateway to Guyana&#8217;s interior regions\u00a0results in a high volume of logging-related traffic passing through the town daily.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;And we try to emphasize to them that they could carry reflecting cones\u00a0and wads and even vests just in case they have a breakdown\u00a0and these things along the highway or through the trailer,\u00a0especially with those tyres that they&#8217;re carrying\u00a0and the lugs how they&#8217;re placing them along the truck,&#8221; he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He noted that traffic ranks conduct routine enforcement exercises\u00a0in and around Linden to ensure that operators of logging trucks\u00a0and heavy-duty machinery comply with safety regulations,\u00a0particularly those transporting large logs and heavy loads.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;A lot of logging and with the major infrastructure that&#8217;s going on,\u00a0we find that a lot of heavy-duty machinery are mostly in the mining town itself.\u00a0So, on a day-to-day basis, even myself and most traffic ranks,\u00a0day-to-day enforcement on those same trucks to keep them in check,&#8221;
