Labour Minister Keoma Griffith says a new labor market observatory\u00a0will help government better match skills training\u00a0with the country&#8217;s growing economic needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Addressing the plenary session of the 114th International Labor Conference, the minister highlighted the government&#8217;s national digitisation program,\u00a0which will see most government services,\u00a0including labour administration, fully digitised by the end of 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8220;To this end, our government has strategically crafted a national digitisation program\u00a0driven by investments in digital infrastructure,\u00a0artificial intelligence, cross-agency collaboration\u00a0and integration of ICT systems,&#8221;<\/strong> he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Minister Griffith said Guyana&#8217;s rapid economic transformation\u00a0is creating new opportunities across multiple sectors,\u00a0reshaping the labor market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To keep pace with these changes,\u00a0he noted that the government is modernising its systems\u00a0and strengthening evidence-based data-driven manpower planning.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8220;Accordingly, the Ministry of Labor and Manpower Planning\u00a0is presently advancing the development of a manpower strategic planning framework\u00a0inclusive of a labor market observatory,&#8221;<\/strong> he added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He explained that the observatory will generate critical data\u00a0on skills gaps, labor demands, wage trends and migration patterns.Supported by artificial intelligence,\u00a0it will provide real-time analysis and forecasting,\u00a0enabling the government to better align\u00a0training programs with national development priorities.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>-by David Clarke Guyana is moving to modernise its labor sector\u00a0through digital transformation and smarter workforce planning.
