Police are on the hunt for the perpetrator behind a deadly robbery that has left a seven-year-old boy dead and his elderly great-grandmother hospitalised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The shocking attack occurred early this morning at a home in Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo, prompting an outpouring of grief from the public and support from government officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police have launched an active investigation following the brutal killing of seven-year-old Adriel Aftab Mohamed during a robbery at his family’s home in the Zeelugt New Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The attack occurred at approximately 4 hours 45Thursday and also left the child’s 72-year-old great-grandmother, Haliman Itwari, with multiple stab wounds. She is currently receiving medical treatment at the De Kinderen Regional Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investigators are now working to identify and apprehend those responsible for the deadly attack that has shocked the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Family members described Adriel as a caring child who lived with his great-grandmother and helped care for her because she was bedridden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking with NCN News, his grandmother, Shabana Mohamed, said the youngster often assisted his great-grandmother with her daily needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe helpful and playful you know nothing don\u2019t bother him father gone to work he is be home there with his grandmother and the two of them is be home there,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Minister of Human Services and Social Security, Dr. Vindhya Persaud, visited the family and pledged the government’s support during this difficult time. The Minister said counselling and other assistance will be provided to family members, particularly the children affected by the tragedy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I have been talking with the parents, the mom and the grandparent there is a little sister involved their is some cousins involved the child protection will be dealing with counseling not only the children but the family because this is a lot of healing<\/strong>,” the minister said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police and crime scene investigators processed the residence shortly after the attack, and the child’s body was later removed from the home. The investigation remains ongoing as police intensify efforts to bring those responsible to justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
