For landscaper Leon Christian, getting around Georgetown has become much easier since the reconstruction of the thoroughfare linking Vlissengen Road and Camp Road through Thomas Lands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI use this road regularly since it has been rebuilt. It\u2019s very good for the community and for the country. There are no potholes, and the drive is much smoother,\u201d Christian told the Department of Public Information (DPI)<\/em><\/strong> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n

Christian\u2019s experience is shared by hundreds of commuters, parents and workers who now benefit from faster travel times and improved access following the completion of the major roadway upgrade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For several months, motorists travelling from Kitty and surrounding communities had to contend with heavy congestion along Carifesta Avenue, Lamaha Street and Woolford Avenue, particularly during peak school hours when traffic volumes increased around nearby schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, the newly reconstructed road offers a convenient alternative route, allowing drivers to move between Vlissengen Road and Camp Road in less than 10 minutes while avoiding some of Georgetown\u2019s busiest traffic corridors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among those benefitting is daily commuter Germy Dolphin, whose work requires him to travel across Georgetown.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cIt helps me to navigate\u2026It helps me get away from the traffic,\u201d Dolphin told DPI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The road has also made daily routines easier for parents transporting their children to school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One parent said the upgraded roadway has become an essential part of her commute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is a road that I use every day to take my daughter to school and to get to work. It is important right now because it helps to ease the traffic from Carifesta Avenue and Woolford Avenue,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n\n\n

For Randy Chester, the improvements have enhanced both safety and comfort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI use this road on a regular basis. It is very beneficial to me because there is more space to drive and traverse,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n

The completed road network now serves as an important link within Georgetown\u2019s road network, improving connectivity, reducing travel times and making daily commutes more convenient for the thousands of residents who travel through the area each week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
