As Guyana prepares to observe World Environment Day on June 5, hundreds turned out for the\u00a0Environmental Protection Agency’s annual Green Walk and Exhibition, promoting environmental\u00a0awareness and protection.\u00a0Prime Minister Mark Phillips used the occasion to stress the importance of protecting the\u00a0environment for future generations.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Held under the theme, ‘Inspired by Nature, For Climate, For Our Future’, the event also\u00a0promoted EPA’s anti-litter campaign, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘Nah dutty de place, man’, a nationwide environmental initiative\u00a0calling for personal responsibility, proper waste disposal and a clean Guyana.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PM Phillips, who participated in the activity, stressed that environmental\u00a0stewardship is a shared responsibility that spans generations.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Environmental consciousness belongs to the school child walking beside a parent this morning,\u00a0to the vendors along the seawall, to the pensioners who remember what the coastline looked like\u00a040 years ago, and to the young person who will still be living on it 40 years from now,” <\/strong>he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prime Minister also warned that climate change is reshaping the relationship between\u00a0people and the environment, underscoring the need for urgent action to protect future generations.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Climate change is altering that relationship in ways that our grandparents did not anticipate\u00a0and our grandchildren should not have to inherit it unaddressed,” <\/strong>he stressed. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

World Environment Day will be observed on June 5, with activities aimed at raising awareness\u00a0and encouraging action to address climate change and environmental conservation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
