{"id":30136,"date":"2026-05-28T17:00:25","date_gmt":"2026-05-28T21:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=30136"},"modified":"2026-05-28T17:00:45","modified_gmt":"2026-05-28T21:00:45","slug":"retendered-mabaruma-sports-hall-project-to-restart-this-year-ramson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/retendered-mabaruma-sports-hall-project-to-restart-this-year-ramson\/","title":{"rendered":"Retendered Mabaruma Sports Hall project to restart this year \u2013 Ramson"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Culture, Youth and Sport Minister, Charles Ramson Jr., says the long-delayed Mabaruma Multi-Purpose Hall project has been retendered and awarded with works expected to restart later this year once contracts are signed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a recent event at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Minister Ramson disclosed that the procurement process has already been completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cThe project has already been tendered and already awarded,\u201d<\/strong> the minister said, while noting that the contracts are still to be formally signed before construction resumes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that once the contractual process is completed the ministry will make a public announcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cOnce the contracts have been signed, we will publicly announce that. They would start working again to get that completed, but we publicly advertised it, we did the designs and everything,\u201d<\/strong> Ramson explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sports minister also made it clear that while construction will recommence this year, the project is not expected to be completed before year-end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cThose contracts will be started, the works will be started this year, they won\u2019t be finished this year, I want to be clear about that,\u201d <\/strong>he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ramson said the government\u2019s immediate focus remains on completing the Leonora Multi-Purpose Facility, while they are also hoping to make significant progress on the Lethem indoor complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Mabaruma Multi-Purpose Hall project was initially awarded in 2023 as part of the government\u2019s wider plan to construct six indoor sporting facilities across several hinterland regions.
