{"id":29912,"date":"2026-05-16T20:52:03","date_gmt":"2026-05-17T00:52:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=29912"},"modified":"2026-05-16T20:52:03","modified_gmt":"2026-05-17T00:52:03","slug":"president-ali-urges-youth-to-make-one-guyana-real","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/president-ali-urges-youth-to-make-one-guyana-real\/","title":{"rendered":"President Ali urges youth to make One Guyana real"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>-by Nakasia Logan <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President Irfaan Ali has urged young people to reject division and embrace unity, as he officially declared open the highly \u2013 anticipated Guyana Festival 2026 at the National Stadium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Addressing a large gathering, Friday evening, the Head of State said Guyana\u2019s 60th Independence Anniversary must serve as a turning point towards healing, inclusion and national unity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Against a backdrop of vibrant cultural displays, pulsating music and a colorful parade of nations,\u00a0the opening ceremony transformed the venue into a celebration of Guyana&#8217;s identity, heritage and togetherness under the theme Sound, Soul and Taste.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The evening began with a grand cultural entrance as representatives proudly paraded through the stadium,\u00a0displaying symbols of nationhood, colors and traditions, reflecting Guyana&#8217;s rich ethnic diversity. Do not inherit old prejudice. Do not serve your generation. Do not use these prejudices to serve your generation. Do not repeat old arguments that do not build new futures.\u00a0Do not allow the past to define the limits of your imagination.\u00a0Instead, become the generation that finally makes one Guyana real,&#8221; <\/em><\/strong>he urged. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to President Ali, Guyana&#8217;s diversity remains one of its greatest strengths,\u00a0with African, Indigenous, Indian, European, Chinese and Portuguese influences all contributing to the nation&#8217;s unique identity.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Susan Rodrigues,\u00a0described the return of the Guyana Festival after 12 years as a major cultural and tourism milestone for the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8220;Even as Guyana grows and modernizes, there is something we must never lose sight of, who we are as a people.
