As Guyana celebrates its Independence Jubilee, locals are being recognized for their contribution\u00a0to our culture and national identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Independence Visual Art Exhibition is now open at Castellani House under the\u00a0theme ‘The Independent Artist’. More than 54 artists are showcasing their work as part of Guyana’s 60th Independence Jubilee celebration, highlighting the country’s creativity, culture and artistic\u00a0talent.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister within the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, Steven Jacobs, says the exhibition\u00a0reflects the remarkable talent of Guyanese artists while reaffirming government’s commitment\u00a0to supporting the creative industry.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Art is really an expression of oneself, your imagination, culture, every single thing that\u00a0you may see at that time. And to bring it out in this manner is something that is exceptional.\u00a0It shows the talent and the ability of our Guyanese people,” <\/strong>he explained. <\/p>\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Charles Ramson, spoke about the importance\u00a0of art in expressing freedom, culture and national identity. He also announced plans for more murals around public spaces to further celebrate Guyanese\u00a0artistry.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This is a decision that President Irfaan Ali has already made and he’s also said that\u00a0it must not only be limited to Region 4, that it must go all across the country,”<\/strong> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n

The exhibition runs daily from May 15 to June 12 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at Castellani\u00a0House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
