These issues were among the focus areas at the Guyana National Bureau of Standards Metrology Symposium held earlier today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guyana is strengthening its national quality assurance systems,\u00a0\u00a0with government and regional officials underscoring the importance of internationally recognised standards\u00a0in supporting investment, trade, and economic expansion.\u00a0\u00a0Speaking during the Bureau&#8217;s Metrology Symposium, Executive Director of the GNBS, Trevor Bassoo\u00a0said investment in strengthening quality systems is key to national development. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Hosting this event sends a clear signal to investors that Guyana is committed to quality, standards, and internationally recognised systems,&#8221; he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bassoo noted that maintaining internationally accepted standards will help position Guyana\u00a0as a trusted destination for investment and business development.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;This assurance is increasingly important as we develop key sectors\u00a0in both the manufacturing and servicing industries,\u00a0\u00a0and as we position Guyana as a competitive and reliable partner in the global marketplace,&#8221; he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The symposium also highlighted the role of metrology and the science of measurement\u00a0in developing effective policies, strengthening trade and competitiveness,\u00a0\u00a0and supporting regional cooperation.\u00a0World Metrology Day will be observed on May 20<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>-by David Clarke As Guyana&#8217;s economy continues to expand, officials say stronger standards and measurement systems will be critical to supporting investment, trade and industrial development.
