Monday’s public day saw senior members of the government engaging more than 1,000 persons.\u00a0Citizens continued to engage senior members of the government late into the afternoon,\u00a0seeking solutions to various concerns.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NCN News was told that the event attracted persons from near and far, including regions 1, 7, 8, and 10. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister of Home Affairs, Oneidge Walrond explained that some matters were addressed immediately, while others were documented for follow-up action. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“There are some issues that may take longer or may be difficult to remedy, but the idea is to be able to communicate to people. Let them know that, OK, these are the difficulties, this is how we try to help you,”<\/strong> she explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Minister of Finance, Dr Ashni Singh, told NCN News, “Listening to people, they were very satisfied that their issues were attended to<\/strong><\/strong>. In some cases, their issues were addressed on the spot. In others, a note was taken and there will be follow-up, like I said. And so altogether, an incredibly successful day.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation, Deodat Indar, this speaks volumes about the impact of the administration’s governance approach. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“And I think that’s a good thing, that we continue to be in touch with people and people have access to every single member of government,”<\/strong> he said. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the close of Monday’s engagement, Vice-President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo announced that Berbice and Esequibo will be the next stops for this initiative. Further, and in response to concerns raised by small contractors, the Vice-President urged the ministries to move ahead with the next phase of contract awards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said funding is available and that thousands of pre-qualified contractors will benefit, helping to boost regional economies while developing communities. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
