{"id":29612,"date":"2026-04-25T21:03:52","date_gmt":"2026-04-26T01:03:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=29612"},"modified":"2026-04-25T21:03:52","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T01:03:52","slug":"vaccination-week-2026-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/vaccination-week-2026-launched\/","title":{"rendered":"Vaccination Week 2026 launched"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>-Guyana targets 60,000 HPV vaccinations<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guyana and the Caribbean have launched Vaccination Week 2026, with a\u00a0renewed push to strengthen immunisation efforts and protect every citizen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking at the launch at Uman Yana, Health Minister Dr. Frank Anthony announced an intensified campaign to boost\u00a0the Human Papillomavirus (HPV)\u00a0vaccination,\u00a0aiming to protect against cervical cancer and improve coverage across all vaccines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0Dr. Anthony highlighted that the focus is now on strengthening immunisation programmess to\u00a0close remaining gaps, particularly for one antigen that currently stands at a 91 per cent coverage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal is to reach at least 95 per cent by ensuring every eligible child receive their vaccines.\u00a0He also outlined an ambitious target of vaccinating 6,000 persons against HPV.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8220;I hope that during this month that we spend enough time to get people out, sensitise them,\u00a0bring them out, make sure that by the end of this month we&#8217;ll be able to not just do 26,000\u00a0but I&#8217;m looking for at least 60,000 people being vaccinated,&#8221; <\/strong>he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The theme for Vaccination Week is,\u00a0\u201cYour decision makes a difference: prevention is protection, vaccinate now!\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Health leaders emphasise the importance of vaccination in saving lives and protecting\u00a0communities.
