Four Points by Sheraton, located at 502 Caneview Avenue along the Heroes Highway, was officially opened today by President Dr. Irfaan Ali, marking another milestone in Guyana’s expanding hospitality sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hotel is owned by Mauricio Van Dam and financed by IDB Invest. Van Dam said the investment reflects confidence in Guyana’s future, noting the developers saw a clear opportunity and remain committed to supporting the country’s development. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Guyanese-themed hotel features a conference facility, retail center, restaurants, solar-powered energy systems, and a water treatment plant, positioning it as an activity hub for the area. Its color palette was designed to reflect Guyana’s rivers and forests. <\/p>\n\n\n

In his address, President Ali lauded the investors as well as the community and everyone else who collaborated to make the Sheraton a reality. He also teased future projects from the investors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We want to take the next project forward and to see how we can have the first maybe Four Points nature resort, all-inclusive resort here in Guyana. So let’s take that conversation forward. We already have IDB Invest in the room, and of course, we have your confidence. I want us to really applaud that type of thinking when you talk about local content,”<\/strong><\/em> the president said. <\/p>\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Susan Rodrigues, noted that with this opening, Guyana now boasts its fourth Marriott-branded hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Since 2020, Guyana has welcomed properties such as the courtyard by Marriott, the AC Marriott, the now Four Points by Sheraton, bringing the total number of Marriott-branded hotels in Guyana to four. This is a remarkable shift in a relatively short period of time, driven by investor confidence, market demand, and the clear trajectory of Guyana’s tourism and business travel sectors,” <\/strong>she said. <\/p>\n\n\n
