{"id":29502,"date":"2026-04-20T19:37:28","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T23:37:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=29502"},"modified":"2026-04-20T19:37:28","modified_gmt":"2026-04-20T23:37:28","slug":"video-evidence-introduced-as-election-fraud-trial-resumes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/video-evidence-introduced-as-election-fraud-trial-resumes\/","title":{"rendered":"Video evidence introduced as election fraud trial resumes"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>The high-profile elections fraud trial resumed today as key witness\u00a0Sasenarine Singh completed his testimony and fresh video evidence was introduced in court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lead prosecutor Darshan Ramdhani told NCN News,\u00a0via telephone, that evidence from Singh&#8217;s cell phone was also tendered in court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;He tendered a number of videotapes or video evidence from his cell phone into trial today\u00a0and then he was put up for cross-examination.\u00a0Mr Hughes began to cross-examine.\u00a0I believe Mr Hughes has completed his cross-examination. Prosecutions, as the defence, use cross-examination to advance several theories,\u00a0including suggestions that statements of polls or SOPs may have been tampered with,&#8221; Ramdhani explained. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, prosecutors argue those claims do not address the central allegations before the court.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t see them tackling the substantive evidence in relation to what is happening\u00a0or what happened and that the witnesses were just narrating in terms of\u00a0wrong numbers, early declarations, false declarations,\u00a0that kind of evidence that was given so far in the case.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The case, which stems from the 2020 elections, has already seen several interruptions,\u00a0including a restart last year before a new magistrate.\u00a0So far, 21 witnesses have testified, with more than 20 still to be called.\u00a0The matter continues on Friday as the court works through the remaining witnesses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The high-profile elections fraud trial resumed today as key witness\u00a0Sasenarine Singh completed his testimony and fresh video evidence was introduced in court.
