{"id":29426,"date":"2026-04-16T17:47:28","date_gmt":"2026-04-16T21:47:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=29426"},"modified":"2026-04-16T17:47:28","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T21:47:28","slug":"deadly-construction-collapse-under-investigation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/deadly-construction-collapse-under-investigation\/","title":{"rendered":"Deadly construction collapse under investigation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p><strong>-in Atlantic Gardens<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-by Kimberly Giddings<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The owner of the Atlantic Gardens construction site today addressed the fatal building collapse that claimed one life and left several others injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the owner, Buddy Shivraj, he was at home at the time of the tragic incident when he heard the building crumble and collapse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He opined that the construction workers were pouring cement but &#8211; too much in one area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shivraj noted that the workers were on the second floor prior to the collapse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He told NCN News that 8 construction workers were on site at the time, seven who received injuries and 46-year-old Radish Domingo who succumbed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Up to new time, he said four of the injured workers were released from the hospital. The businessman has since reached out to the families, offering his support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On April 15, Radish Domingo of Mon Repos, died following the collapse of the two-storey building under construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His body was pulled from the rubble Tuesday evening and later taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A post-mortem examination is pending as investigations continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The seven other workers who were injured in the incident are Jeremy Parker, Lezande Pompey, Enzo Hernandez, Juzdel Castillo, Satish Singh, Colin Latchman and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nigel Chisholm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Preliminary reports indicate the workers were completing roofing work after pouring cement when the structure suddenly collapsed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While at the site, this newscast observed Occupational Safety and Health officers from the Labour Ministry, inspecting the remains of the collapsed building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Labour Minister, Keoma Griffith confirmed that the Ministry is leading the probe and warned that any breaches of safety regulations will be addressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also emphasised the importance of workplace safety, noting that the incident comes during Occupational Safety and Health Month, when awareness and compliance are heightened.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>-in Atlantic Gardens -by Kimberly Giddings The owner of the Atlantic Gardens construction site today addressed the fatal building collapse that claimed one life and left several others injured.
