He declared this during last evening\u2019s official launch of the International Building Expo 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s International Building Expo marks its 16th year since it was originally conceptualized by President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali during his tenure as Housing Minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Held under the theme \u201cGuyana at 60: Building Strong Foundations for a Sustainable Future,\u201d this year\u2019s edition coincides with Guyana\u2019s 60th anniversary of independence.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/658427406_1472347121600398_981564719851469612_n-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-29048\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/658427406_1472347121600398_981564719851469612_n-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/658427406_1472347121600398_981564719851469612_n-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/658427406_1472347121600398_981564719851469612_n-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/658427406_1472347121600398_981564719851469612_n-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/658427406_1472347121600398_981564719851469612_n.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">This year\u2019s edition coincides with Guyana\u2019s 60th anniversary of Independence<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>During the launch, Minister of Housing Collin Croal explained that the event has evolved into a key national platform, linking citizens, investors and industry stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;<strong>We are building a country for the next generation and in that context, housing and infrastructure are not just development priorities, they are nation building tools. \u00a0The homes we construct, the communities we design and the infrastructure that we invest, it will define not only our present but our future<\/strong>,&#8221; he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Minister within the Ministry of Housing, Vanessa Benn, stressed that the expo goes beyond showcasing products and addressing housing concerns. She explained that while many may view the event as focused on construction and the sale of building materials, it also creates opportunities for businesses and for employment as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;<strong>It means that we need more architects, more surveyors, more carpenters, more masons, more plumbers.
