As the Palmyra Stadium moves closer to its May 2026 completion deadline, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Charles Ramson Jnr. assures the project is advancing rapidly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While inspecting the Region Six stadium on Sunday, the Minister noted that contractors have been engaged to ensure the project remains on schedule. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This will help mitigate minor setbacks caused by delays in shipping materials from other countries.<\/p>\n\n\n

One example is the sealant that arrived on Saturday. Meanwhile, parts of the project that require the sealant, such as the roof and stand, are either already installed or assembled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The sealant that goes in between the prefabricated slabs -and even though the chairs would\u2019ve come in already, the seats- the sealant is critical for it to be installed before<\/strong> the seats go in<\/strong>,” he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once operational, the stadium and multipurpose facility is expected to host a range of sporting events, with a 10,000-seating capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n

And at the New Amsterdam Synthetic Track, the Minister noted that works are approximately 85 to 90 percent complete, with the rubber surface currently being installed.<\/p>\n\n\n

“The only thing<\/strong> that\u2019s missing here are the lines and it\u2019s expected to be completed hopefully in about<\/strong> 4 weeks\u2019 time<\/strong>,” Minister Ramson added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister Ramson assured that the project is being executed to international standards, positioning the facility to host national track and field events well into the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
