Singh on rising World Market Prices<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guyanese families can breathe a little easier tonight; there is no immediate threat of fuel shortages and residents won&#8217;t see a hike in prices.\u00a0The reassurance comes directly from the Finance Minister, Dr. Ashni Singh,\u00a0who emphasises stability for households across the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The minister said that the government will continue to keep fuel prices stable,\u00a0staving off the impact of rising world market prices on Guyanese consumers.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He told NCN News that based on the current state of affairs,\u00a0the government sees no need for an adjustment in fuel prices at the pumps.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8220;I want to make an unequivocal point. There has been no increase in the price charged at the pump by GuyOil.\u00a0And this is not by accident because we have said that as far as we possibly can,\u00a0we will push as far as we possibly can,&#8221;<\/strong> he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0Minister Singh also sought to allay fears of any possible fuel shortage here in Guyana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8220;At this point in time, we don&#8217;t see an immediate threat to the reliability of our supplies,&#8221;<\/strong> he assured. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0Meanwhile, the government continues to absorb the increases in fuel prices on utilities,\u00a0ensuring that consumers do not pay higher tariffs for water and electricity.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Singh says they will continue to keenly monitor the global situation\u00a0and will respond accordingly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>-Mon.
