{"id":28707,"date":"2026-03-10T19:34:29","date_gmt":"2026-03-10T23:34:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=28707"},"modified":"2026-03-10T19:34:29","modified_gmt":"2026-03-10T23:34:29","slug":"commuters-welcome-aubrey-barker-project-expansion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/commuters-welcome-aubrey-barker-project-expansion\/","title":{"rendered":"Commuters welcome Aubrey Barker Project Expansion"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>-by Shamiah Grant<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The $1.45 billion Aubrey Barker four-lane road was officially completed and opened to the public\u00a0on Sunday.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This critical corridor in South Georgetown now serves as a high-capacity link between\u00a0the capital and the Ogle to Eccles bypass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NCN News spoke with commuters to ascertain their views of the new four-lane thoroughfare.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Motorist, Phillip (only name given) said that the road now saves loads of time and is already bringing relief to him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;You can get to your destination quicker. Because sometimes I work on the East Coast, and I live in this area, so instead of having to go all the way around and dealing with all the traffic, I can use this road,&#8221; he explained. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leroy Nedd shared similar views, telling NCN News that he is now able to complete his daily travelling faster. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I could ride freely and get my job done. So it is a very good move from the government,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ian Weithers expressed, &#8220;I feel really good about it.
