{"id":28679,"date":"2026-03-09T19:56:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-09T23:56:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/?p=28679"},"modified":"2026-03-09T19:56:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T23:56:08","slug":"flopay-and-zoon-join-govt-effort-to-strengthen-women-led-enterprises","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/flopay-and-zoon-join-govt-effort-to-strengthen-women-led-enterprises\/","title":{"rendered":"Flopay and Zoon join gov&#8217;t effort to strengthen women-led enterprises"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n\n<p>Women entrepreneurs in Guyana are set to benefit from new support aimed at making it easier\u00a0to sell products, receive payments, and ship goods.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security on Sunday launched a new partnership\u00a0with Zoon Online, Shopping and Shipping, and local fintech company, Flopay, to help\u00a0women-led businesses operate more efficiently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0Through the Zoon Online Shopping and Shipping program, participants will benefit from preferential\u00a0shipping rates, reduced service costs, and direct support from the company&#8217;s shipping\u00a0team.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative is designed to remove barriers that often hinder women-led businesses.By providing these services, Zoon aims to enable women entrepreneurs to scale their\u00a0operations, access international markets, and increase their earning potential.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marketing Representative for Zoon, Crystal Melville, speaking at the launch highlighted the company&#8217;s commitment\u00a0to supporting women in business and ensuring they have the resources needed to grow and\u00a0succeed.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Our goal is to ensure that Guyanese women entrepreneurs have access to affordable shipping\u00a0rates and seamless sourcing and logistics experiences that allow them to focus on what\u00a0truly matters, growing their businesses,&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, Flopay founder, Aleema Seadath, representing the first female-led fintech company in Guyana\u00a0explained that the company focuses on simplifying payments.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its first offering in the local market is a point-of-sale device that allows merchants,\u00a0regardless of their bank, to accept card payment.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;This is actually a really interesting solution, but then how does it work for the people that\u00a0come to these events?\u00a0And so ourselves, the ministry, as well as IDB, we came together last Saturday and decided\u00a0to put together a trial program for three days.That is the dynamism that a fintech can have in comparison to traditional banking solutions.\u00a0In a single day, we brainstormed and came up with a three-day trial, which allows merchants\u00a0here to use our devices to accept payments,&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/IMG_6439-1024x683.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28680\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/IMG_6439-1024x683.webp 1024w, https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/IMG_6439-300x200.webp 300w, https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/IMG_6439-768x512.webp 768w, https:\/\/ncnguyana.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/IMG_6439.webp 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Aleema Seadath<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Minister of Human Services and Social Security, Dr. Vindhya Persaud, also\u00a0spoke at the event, noting that the ministry will continue to support women in striving\u00a0for and achieving success in business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;What is to come behind me and what has already come here this afternoon would have been things\u00a0that we were working on for the last three years, ensuring that there was a paperless\u00a0opportunity for women so that they can be able to ensure that their products not only\u00a0reach markets, but they do so safely.\u00a0They can track their business, and they can definitely have the opportunity to step into\u00a0a digital world of commerce and industry,&#8221;
